Update

I went to see the radiologist yesterday. They did the mammogram with three views (which wasn't all that bad - it was digital images instead of needing the xray film and as soon as the image took, it released) and then they decided to do the ultrasound as well. They ultrasound tech took about 10 pictures. I asked her what she was seeing and of course they can't say. She said that it doesn't appear to be a cyst though because those are normally all black because they are filled with fluid and this one wasn't like that. Also it is right on a vein but there isn't any blood flow into it. It looked like it was nice sized as well. Who knows though - I am sure everything looks big on the screen. So then she sent to results to the Dr. there at the diagnostics center and he came in to take a second look and talk to me. He said that I need to follow-up with Dr. Goulet when I got back to the office and that there is an abnormality and that they need to at least go in and do the needle biopsy. Of course that is up to Dr. Goulet. The dr. at the place though said that if it were him that he would just go in and remove the lump altogether and that he doesn't see any reason not to treat this aggressively. He said that the shape isn't really consistent with a fibro adenoma because usually those are smoother and this is more ridgey. He said that doesn't necessarily mean anything, it could be one that isn't following the textbook. He kept saying that the chances that it is anything is really really rare because I am so young and just keep trying to reassure me of something. It was more disturbing than comforting. So, when I got back to work, I called Dr. Goulet's office and of course they can't do anything until they get the results so I had to call the Diagnostics place back and let them know that. They said that they have yet to be typed up as of this morning and it may not be until tomorrow but once they are typed up that they are faxed over to Dr. Goulet. So now I am just waiting some more.....
Waiting sucks!
