Exciting Weekend

This past weekend was very fun. There was eleven of us that hung out Saturday afternoon and went to the Collective Soul, Live, and Counting Crows concert Saturday night. It was nice to have almost everyone down and have a good time. Saturday morning Bill and Eve got here on time (thanks) and it was especially nice for them to come by since it was their 5 year anniversary (congrats!). We had wanted people to be here around eleven, but noon came and went and we were still waiting on people. So, while we waited we took some pictures of Bill and Eve being sad since nobody was here yet. We decided that on Saturday it would be fun to have some guy time so Bill, Aaron, Brian, and myself went to the gym and played two games of basketball. The downside was that we (us four and another random guy) ended up playing against five guys that were 16 and just ran up and down the court the whole time. Needless to say, not all of us could keep up. After being ran out of the gym, we got back to the house around 2:15 p.m. I still think we would have stood a chance if we would have had Doug's dead on shooting.

I went to the butcher (Moody Meats) on Friday and picked up a bunch of ribeyes and chicken breasts to grill out on Saturday and have a nice meal. Once we got home from basketball, Brian heated up the grill and cooked the corn on the cob, zucchini, squash, and some shrimp skewers for appetizers and then lastly the steaks and chicken. The food turned out great and I think everyone enjoyed it.

After dinner we headed downtown to Victory Field for the concert. Our timing was perfect since right after we sat down Collective Sould came on. The singer did one of the neatest things I have ever seen at a concert. In the second row there was a fight that broke out and he stopped and told them to stop. By this time security was on them but he made sure the idiots didn't get thrown out; instead he told security just to seperate them. They played a lot of their old stuff and put on a good show. I think the best part of the concert though was Live. I knew more of their songs and was able to follow along a little bit better. About halfway through Counting Crows it started raining pretty well and by this time it felt good because the day had been so hot. Chantelle and I didn't move out of the rain at that point because we just didn't care. As it turns out Victory Field is a really nice venue for a concert. They had the stage around second base and a tarp down so if you wanted up close you could go down. With general seating you could also sit wherever there was space if you wanted an actual seat. The audio was also much better than I anticipated. Those of you who have ever been to a concert at another sporting venue (Conseco) know what I mean by bad audio.

Overall, it made for a great day and it was great to have everyone together. We will all be together next at Adam and Corrina's wedding September 1st!
